Magic Mouse Touch Connector Repair

비디오 가이드
이 가이드는 YouTube 동영상에서 필사한 것입니다.

필요한 것

    • Confirm the symptom: the pointer and left click work, but right click, scrolling, and touch gestures don't respond.

    • Turn off the Magic Mouse and remove the battery cover.

    • Remove both batteries from the battery compartment.

    • Don't open the mouse with the batteries installed, as this can cause shorts or accidental input.

    • Use a plastic opening tool to release the four small tabs inside the battery compartment.

    • Work one side free before releasing the opposite side.

    • Pry gently and don't force the tabs, as they can break or deform.

    • Open the mouse only far enough to see the internal connector.

    • Look for the touch-surface ribbon connector near the opened edge.

    • The connector may be partly pulled out, fully disconnected, or held by an open latch after a drop.

    • Don't pull the mouse halves apart, as this can fully unplug or tear the connector.

    • Use a fingernail or a plastic opening tool to lift the small locking flap on the connector.

    • Slide the ribbon tab straight back into the connector until it sits evenly.

    • Hold the ribbon in place while closing the locking flap.

    • Press the flap closed on one side, then the other, until both sides are fully shut.

    • This part can be awkward because the ribbon may slide back out while the latch is open.

    • Install the batteries without fully reassembling the mouse.

    • Connect the mouse to a computer and test left click, right click, scrolling, and touch gestures.

    • If the touch functions still don't work, remove the batteries and reseat the ribbon connector again.

    • Remove the batteries again before continuing reassembly.

    • Peel the old glue from the cover piece and the matching mounting surfaces.

    • Remove as much old adhesive as possible so the new tape can bond well.

    • Keep track of the cover orientation while cleaning it.

    • Apply small pieces of double-sided tape to the cleaned cover piece.

    • Keep the LED opening clear of tape and adhesive.

    • Align the hole in the cover piece with the status LED.

    • Press the cover piece back into place so the tape bonds evenly.

    • Press the opened parts of the mouse back into place until the tabs are seated.

    • Reinstall the batteries and battery cover.

    • Connect the mouse and test the left click, right click, scrolling, and touch gestures.

    • A fully seated connector should restore the right click and touch functions.

결론

If the touch functions still don't work, reopen the mouse and confirm the ribbon connector is fully inserted and the latch is closed on both sides. Repair didn't go as planned? Try some basic troubleshooting, or ask our Answers community for help.
