It's often cheaper for manufacturers to only buy one type of RAM chip ie. 2 slot supporting, and simply only install one physical ram slot, so Windows might see "two available" however that is what the control chip is seeing not the physical available slots. My Lenovo T440 is the same way.
with a good prying tool shouldn't break any components, i use steel guitar picks and standard plastic wedge tools to separate the parts, however glad to know this guide helped.
Did this upgrade with my T440 and worked great, used a LP140WF1 / B140HAN01 display added some much needed pixels and IPS viewing angles. I bought from Aliexpress Store: Kevin trade shop.
Yes only two need to be removed, however I initially wrote a tear down to gain access to the network card etc and the way ifix it is structured for guide creation these steps are in fact used in that longer guide. I've amended the instructions now so hopefully they are more clear now.
