People, people, people.... The fix is so simple....I've said it here over and over again.... The problem is the thermostat in the refrigerator. It keeps the temperature colder than it should. If you set the temp for the freezer to level 0ne (1) your problem will go away! At least for the most part. In the summer when the temp is warmer outside it may try harder to stay cold and very rarely you might have to use the hair dryer on the black filler tube for the ice tray. But once or twice a year is much better than every two weeks if you keep your temp on 3. You don't need to take apart your door or rip out all the wiring like I have seen some fools do. There have been any number of fixes that are incredibly hard when this is really very simple. The real problem Whirlpool refuses to even understand. I may just write their Quality Control Director and try to get him to fix it. I guarantee you the thermostat is reading too warm and it is causing the fridge to run too cold. SIMPLE FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make it...
To prevent the problem from happening again set your freezer temp to 1. It will still keep everything very well frozen, but it will keep the temp warm enough to keep the ice from freezing in the filler tube. Read further down for more precise ways to take the unit out. Aslo you need to keep the hair dryer on it long enough to make sure the clog is freed.
