hello , try this - fold down your rear seats, remove rear shelf, try to reach the boot handle and remove two screws holding it. then try to remove the whole panel by prying it off of the edges, be careful not to break the plastic clips holding it, then once thats off, reach and undo the latch with a hand , there is a manual release in there, then try to troubleshoot and repair with boot open, - with the latch locked whilst the "doors" are up, . good luck,

더 읽어보기Hello Joe, i had similar problems on most cameras with rotating zoom switch, i used wet wipe ( for babies ) and run the edge under the switch , it clears sand, and any sticky residue that would get the switch stuck. if you think it’s jammed inside, i would be very careful while opening the camera, the complexity of the unit is so high, it takes bit more than regular handy man to put it back together, and the switch itself is so tiny , that whatever caused it to be locked into place , would most likely be unrepairable, or just not worth it , it’s better to order the switch and try to replace it.

더 읽어보기thanks for uploading photos Stripey, really detailed, excellent photography skills. :) now i know what you were talking about. this metal part connects battery to the switch , as the switch slides up and down, it actually connects from this metal plate to the motor, its common in little dc devices to use a motor casing ( the chassis) to act as one of the terminals. i can see that the battery negative terminal has a spring and blue wire connecting to one of the motor terminals, but the second battery positive terminal doesn’t have anything to connect to, thats where the metal part comes in using one of the right angle surfaces to act as a terminal for the battery, whilst the other part extends to connects to the sliding switch. what i don’t see is some little narrow slot next to the battery, where the part would sit securely making its way through the plastic to the switch. maybe it’s in the underside of the other cover ? have a look, and good luck.
