Hello! My name is Mykah Green. I'm a first-year transfer (third-year with credits) at Western Carolina University with a major in English. I chose this major in hopes of one day becoming a fiction editor, although I also have interests in screenwriting and linguistics. As such, most of my skills are communication-based: I have a talent for explaining things and making myself understood, as well as communicating complicated or difficult issues. I also have a skill for public speaking and presenting. Because of my interests in fiction and storytelling, I am good at drawing connections between concepts or events in order to build a meaningful narrative.

Most of my accomplishments have been writing-related, but not all. For example, I self-published a novel, The Forest of Monsylvia, in 2020; however, I have also directed two youth productions with my local community theatre and won multiple awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Academically, I graduated with honors from Alamance Community College and made the President's List, and I am in the Honors College at WCU.

Most of the "fixing" I've done is metaphorical—that is, while I don't have much experience repairing physical things, I am a problem solver and operate with a "fixing" mindset.

I am a member of the Mock Trial club and the a cappella choir on campus, as well as the Nomad, the WCU literary magazine. As mentioned, I am also a member of the Brinson Honors College. In my free time, I enjoy reading and writing fiction, as well as drawing (mostly sketching and digital art), singing, and playing my ukulele. I have also performed in community theatre since 7th grade.

Because most of my experience is in creative writing, I'm hoping that this project will help me to fine-tune my skills with technical writing. Learning to repair electronics will also make me more self-sufficient.
