I checked the iFixit store and the few models of this HP Probook I checked only show battery replacements. There are several internet screen replacement stores though so you should have no trouble getting a new one with good quality.
I don’t have this mouse but check the following things as I noticed one of my mice doesn’t have exposed screws: 1) case opens from midline assembly (gently pinch top or bottom half and see if it can pull apart 2) top of case has a thin top which buttons are set into and can pop up and out to reveal compartment 3) recessed screws are hidden under rubber bottom “pads”. Peel up pads to locate screws.
Repairing an onboard USB port isn’t worth the effort involved unless you are skilled with soldering components on a laptop motherboard. Suggest a small USB hub to get more ports.
I just ran into the same thing with an iPhone with a cracked screen and I couldn’t get the suction cup to stick. Instead of a plastic pick, try a feeler gauge or rounded blade to get under the screen. It’s a PIA but you can do it.
Also, check to see if there is a sensor hack where you can defeat the detection. On some models you can use tape or some other means to avoid this poor design which plagues so many users.
Check the relays that are ignition / starting related and fuses nearby. Clicking makes me think a relay coil is pulling in but perhaps the contacts aren’t plugged down (relay is not all the way engaged (pressed) into its socket) or an associated fuse is not pressed down. Basically pull them out again and carefully reseat each one back into its socket.
There are some things which can cause this - online they talk about a stuck water valve or a door switch problem. Make sure to completely restart a cycle. There is also a reset process where you unplug the power cord and then hold down the power button for at least 5 seconds after plugging the power cord back in.
I’m not sure as this repair was for a ‘friend of a friend’. I used that B-7000 import stuff. Does anyone know how to source the adhesive that Apple uses or what that stuff is?
Glad that you found an alternate technique that works for you. I wouldn’t call the heat ineffective and I recommend installing a new force touch gasket regardless after opening up the glued surface like this display.
I think there are some articles that identify them but if you take a look at the Series 3 teardown, the chip mounted at the top middle of the inside of the display is the force touch controller, so my educated guess would be that the middle ribbon cable is responsible for touch. I had the same problem and reseated all of them again and it worked after that.
I’m able to power on my camera board (I have it plugged into the PC USB), it triggers the computer USB storage but the PC will not mount the card storage. With it plugged into the PC USB port the battery charging voltage is 4.1VDC. I’m not sure that I ever used the parking mode so I don’t know how log it takes to deplete the battery but I don’t think it stays charged very long.
Great to hear!
Yeah you have to be especially careful and only use slight pressure.
Great to hear!
Pleased to help
