Unfortunately Samsung did not make the USB port a modular replacement. Solder a new one on, or replace the entire motherboard. Definitely not the ideal scenario.
Do not follow ifixit's teardown, the method they used to open the phone to get at the internals is not the best way to do it. I posted a guide on repairing the screen with links to videos on how to properly open the phone and remove the back cover. HTC One Display Assembly Replacement
It's hard to say whether replacing the screen will fix it. If the phone seems to be turning on and off that's a good sign that the electronics might still be functioning properly. Give it a shot replacing the screen assembly following the instructions below, it's worth a try! Kyocera Rise Display Assembly Replacement
Do you want the main flex cable between the keyboard and the slide out touch screen? It's easy to attach and detatch on the keyboard side but hard to attach/detach on the screen side because you have to take apart the screen assembly a bit. If you are definitely going to use it, I will send you the one I have on my broken phone, it should work fine. My email associated with this acct is alcs99@hotmail.com, I never check it though, if you send me your address there I will mail it to you. Let me know via this chat if you want it and I will check my email.
It sounds like a lot of us are having this issue. So I posted the iFixit guide on "Camera Lens Glass Replacement," showing with photos exactly how I replaced the glass. Let me know if this works for you and if there any photos or edits you would like to add in order to enhance the guide. HTC One Camera Lens Replacement
Zack is right, this step is just to view and identify the ICs and parts on the motherboard. Do not perform this step if you wish for you phone to remain functional.
Great! I will add this into the steps. If you have any pictures of how you did this, please feel free to email them to alcs99@hotmail.com and I will upload them into the guide
The back of the phone does not need to be removed, the picture in step 3 is the "HTC One Rear Housing" that I bought separately on eBay. This piece is sold for $15-30 and you will need to buy this to pull off its intact glass lens and use this to replace the broken one.
Raph, thanks for the heads up that its still difficult to find the htc one lens assembly. When I wrote this I had hoped it would become readily available eventually, but I guess not. I updated the guide to show how to remove the original HTC One lens assembly from the HTC One Rear Housing, which you can buy on eBay, eTrade Supply, or other online sources for about $12-20 USD.
Thats interesting! The coaxial cables connect to the antennas and depending on which network you're on you might have different antennas. This is the Sprint model I believe, what model do you have? A GSM model like an international phone, T-mobile, or ATT? I will make a comment on that in the guide, thanks for the heads up!
Thanks Bruce for sharing your method! I went ahead and added it to the guide

Oops! I replaced the old picture with the correct picture showing the pins on the correct side. Good eye thanks for that!
