Chrome OS running very slowly
You are connected to the internet but webpages load extremely slowly.
Syncing data process taking too much bandwidth
Because many applications on Chromebooks are run on the cloud, syncing data often takes up a significant amount of bandwidth. Go to Google Drive, select "settings," and under "General" settings select the box that says "Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drawings files to this computer so that you can edit offline." This will allow programs to be used without having them.
Too many Apps/Browser Windows Open
Try closing unnecessary browser windows and apps and then check to see if Chrome OS becomes more responsive.
Chrome OS Outdated
Try updating your Chrome OS to the latest software to optimize performance and efficiency.
Chromebook crashing/freezing
Your screen does not respond to track pad or keyboard input, turns black, or suddenly exits out of applications.
Chromebook may require a hard reboot
Turn your computer off and then disconnect all media devices such as USB drives. Next disconnect the AC power adapter and then remove the battery. Perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button for 7 seconds. Finally, reconnect the AC power adapter and turn the computer on without the battery connected. IF the Chromebook starts up normally you have finished the hard reboot.
Operating system is using too much memory
A computer is only able to run when enough memory is allocated, so if it is all being used at a certain time it could cause a crash to occur. Start by deleting unnecessary files or applications, and end background processes that you are not using in task manager: press ctrl + shift + esc and go to the processes tab. If this does not work, you may want to save all local files on a flash drive or external hard drive and reset the device to factory default by signing out of the chromebook, holding Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R, and selecting restart. When a box appears, select "reset."
Chromebook cannot connect to Wi-Fi
Your Chromebook isn't connected to the internet. Wedge shaped symbol in the status area next to your account picture may be grayed out.
Wi-Fi is turned off
After turning on your Chromebook, check the wedge shaped symbol in the status area next to your photo. If it is grayed out, turn your wifi back on by clicking your account photo, click the wifi network, then click the switch so that it appears blue.
Modem or router malfunction
Turn your router and modem off and wait for 10 seconds. Turn both the router and modem back on again and check network connectivity.
Outdated Router
Some older routers are unable to work with Chrome OS. Try connecting to another Wi-Fi source. If this works, try to replace your old router with a newer one as the router may be incompatible with Chrome OS.
Reboot Needed
Sometimes simply rebooting your Chromebook can fix Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

no cursor on screen

You can’t remove the battery on most Chromebooks; the unit is sealed so the battery is inaccessible, unless you’re suggesting dismantling the Chromebook and invalidating any warranty/insurance a user may have.

When I read the advise offered to liam hughes, who sees no cursor on screen, which suggests to remove the battery, I’m doubtful if there’s a chance to find a solution to my problem with this Acer Chromebook. The person who offers advise shouldn’t be that ignorant, assuming that a battery installed in this type Chromebook can be removed?
But I’ll give it a try. Since I’ve got a couple of external hard drives in use often and prefer to use a mouse as well, there’s not much room to plug them in, with only 1 USB portal.
Recently I’ve bought a USB hub with 4 portals, with a cable connected to my Chromebook with the other end in the USB hub. Plus a cable plugged in the USB hub and in the electric socket at the other end. The blue lights on the USB hub are on when I switch the buttons on ON. There’s no effect, it doesn’t show up on my Chromebook, do I have to download an app or extension, so that I can use the USB hub?

Is this service non-existent? Last time a comment was left was Sept. 15 2018. Hmm.
