Power Button is Unresponsive
When the power button is pressed the computer does not respond to the action.
Damaged or Faulty Power Cable
The power cable used to charge the laptop may be faulty. Inspect the cable and insure that everything is fully connected, and that the light is on. If not, the cable may be damaged and will require a replacement.
Hardware Issues
The computer’s hardware may be affecting the laptop’s power. To fix this, try a hard reset to clear the data. Start by turning off the laptop and disconnecting the power cable. Once this is done, remove the battery. To remove the battery you can reference this guide. Leave the computer like this for 30 seconds, while holding the power button down for 5 secs, releasing, and repeating on intervals. Once the 30 seconds is up, reinstall the battery and reconnect the power cord.
Screen will Not Power on
The computer is running, but the screen remains black.
External Damage
Inspect the laptop for any damages that could be linked to the problem. If the screen has visible cracks along its face, it will need replacement. If the laptop itself seems to be wet or damp, the hardware could be damaged.
Needs to Charge
If the laptop itself will not power on, it needs to be charged. Connect the power cable and leave it to charge for at least an hour. If the screen is the only part not working, connect the power cable as well and wait a few seconds to see if the screen responds.

No Internet Access
Laptop is not connected to the internet.
Wi-Fi is not Enabled
To check if Wi-Fi is enabled, go to the control panel by searching in the search bar. Select “Network and Internet” then click on “Network and Sharing”. Then look under “View your active networks” and look to see if there is an active network listed. If not, go down to the task bar and click on the Wi-Fi bars next to the speaker volume. Check the list of available networks and make sure that you are connected to one.
Wi-Fi Network is not Working
Start by checking the network with another device. If the other device connects, then there is an issue with the computer and will require other assistance. If the other device doesn't connect, it means that the network is not working. If the network is a home network, try and reset the router to restart it. If the laptop is still not connected, use the network troubleshooter. Type “Control Panel” in the search bar and click on it. Select “Network and Internet” then click on “Network and Sharing.” Click Troubleshoot problems. Once that is done, follow the steps on the screen.

Laptop Audio is not Functional
There is difficulty listening to sound.
Laptop is on Mute
The volume may have been switched to mute.
Playback Device not Activated
The speakers may not know what device to play audio through. To select this laptop as the playback device, open Start, type Sound, and select it from the list of results. On the Playback tab, select the computer audio system, then Set Default. If there is an alternative audio device being connected through a USB or HDMI, set that as the default device.
Driver is out of Date
When the driver is out of date, it can block other functions of the computer. This can easily be viewed by checking the device manager. To do this open Start and type Device Manager. Check whether it appears with the exclamation mark. If there is an exclamation mark, select and open the sound card, then click the Driver tab and select Update Driver. The latest audio driver can also be downloaded from the ASUS Official Site to install it.
Speakers are Obstructed
The speakers could be obstructed by an external object such as dirt or dust. To clean the speakers of any obstructions, start by removing the screws from the casing on the bottom of the laptop and then remove the case. In order to achieve better access to the speakers, the battery can be removed as well using this guide. The speakers will be on either side of the battery. Once the speakers are identified, remove any obstructions by gently blowing compressed air. After that, return the battery (if necessary ) and insure that the speaker’s wires are tight and in place. Do a final check to see if any dirt or dust remains on the speakers, and then replace the casing and screws.

Windows Blue Screen is Displayed
The only display on the laptop is the Windows blue screen, and appears to be frozen.
System Needs to be Restored
Try restoring the laptop and Windows 8. To do this, open the Windows 8 search bar and type “System Restore” . Click “Create a restore point” in the search results. Then select “System Restore” from the System Protection tab. After clicking next, select a restore point from the list. Then click the “Next” button on the screen and then the “Finish” button. Confirm the operation by clicking “Yes” under the warning. At this point the System Restore process should start along with the restart of the computer.
Laptop Requires an Install Update
The updating and installing the latest Windows 8 could correct the software. Before updating, check to make sure there is enough space to download it. Apply updates to Windows 8, and restart Windows 8. From the Start screen open Windows Store. ''From this screen, click the option to Update Windows. Click download in order to start the update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. After the upgrade is finished downloading, click Restart Now to restart the computer. After the computer restarts and everything loads, accept the terms and conditions for Windows 8.1''.
