Screen Is Too Dark
The screen is too dark and hard to see
The Battery Is Too Low
If the battery is below twenty percent, the screen will become darker than it was before. A solution for this would be to constantly be charging the laptop, or replace the battery with a longer lasting one.
The Lighting Setting Is Too Low
First, look on the keyboard to see if there is a button to brighten the screen. For an ASUS computer, press the Fn button and then select the button that brightens the screen.
Backlight Issue
If the backlight is fading then the screen will be dark but barely seeable up close. If the brightening button on the laptop does not work, the backlight will most likely need to be tested and possibly replaced.
Keyboard Not Responding
The keyboard is not detecting your presses, or keys are broken/missing.
Keys Are Missing/Broken
For missing/broken keys the best course of action would be to buy new ones, and replace them.
Keys Are Stuck Down/Up
For stuck keys something is likely either pressing it down or keeping it up. The best course of action would be to remove the key. After the key is removed clean the area of where the key was, and the underneath of the key itself.
Broken Keyboard
The entire keyboard fails to respond to buttons of any kind, meaning you will need to replace the entire keyboard.
Touchpad Won’t Respond
The touchpad does not register clicking and tracking
Reboot the Laptop
The touchpad may have spontaneously stopped working. With many things that go wrong in a scenario like this, the laptop might have had a little hiccup. A hard reboot should fix the problem. To hard reboot, hold down the power button for a few seconds until the laptop powers off. Wait a few minutes and hold the power button until the start up screen initiates. Follow the prompts during bootup.
Touchpad Sensitivity Turned Down
To check if your touchpad sensitivity is turned down, press the WIN Key + Q to open up the search bar. Type “touchpad into search bar and select the “Touchpad Driver Settings”. You should find a pointer speed and sensitivity settings tab. Set the settings to max and swipe your finger across the touchpad to check your pointer. Use the keyboard arrows and the tab/enter keys to cycle through the settings, as your touchpad might not work.
Touchpad Settings Turned Off
To check if your touchpad settings are turned off, press the WIN Key + Q to open up the search bar. Type “touchpad” into search bar and select “Mouse Settings”. You should find a touchpad settings tab with the options to toggle on/off. Set the settings to ON. Use the keyboard arrows and the tab/enter keys to cycle through the settings, as your touchpad won’t work.
