My laptop won't power on ¶
The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Battery Integrity ¶
A dead battery may be the cause of your problem. Let’s try a simple way to check the integrity of the battery.
- Disconnect the power cable and remove the battery from the laptop.
- Reconnect the power cable.
- Press and hold the power button for six seconds.
If the laptop powers on, you probably have a faulty or dead battery. Click here for instructions on how to replace the battery.
Battery Overheat ¶
If prolonged use of the laptop occurs, the laptop may shut down due to overheating. When a laptop is in danger of overheating, your laptop’s system will force a shutdown to prevent causing a fire.
Make sure the laptop is allowed sufficient ventilation by keeping the laptop on a cool, flat surface.
Broken Power Button ¶
Continued use an accident may cause your laptop's integrity to diminish. Damage to the Power Button, which would prevent you from powering up your laptop, may be the cause of your problem. If this is the case, we suggest you contact Asus by calling Support Services.

My screen is not displaying properly ¶
The display on my laptop has started flickering, have poor quality, and become dim.
Backlight Bleed ¶
Setting your screen display to a high brightness for extended periods of time may cause some parts of the LCD screen to deteriorate.
To prevent this, try to keep the brightness at a low to medium level. If the display has decreased in quality then it is already too late and you may need to replace the LCD screen.
Dead Pixels ¶
A dead pixel may be the cause of that distracting colorful dot on your screen . A dead pixel is a bright dot of color that fails to change when a new image is presented. To check your screen for dead pixels, you can cycle through Black, White, Red, Green, and Red images. This should help you identify any trouble spots that might not be apparent during regular use. It's normal for an older model to have a few dead pixels scattered around, but a new model should have almost none.
Follow these instructions to accurately identify any LCD issues:
- Press F11 to put your web browser on full-screen mode
- Click on any of the following links to inspect your screen for any pixels that may be a different color. Your screen will turn one solid color. If you find any dead pixels, click here for repair.
The touchpad is not responding ¶
My mouse will not respond when I try to move it or it will have a delayed reaction.
You may have a virus that exists only to make life more difficult for you. A computer virus is a malware program that, when executed, replicates by inserting copies of itself into other computer programs, data files, or the boot sector of the hard drive. When this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be "infected.”
Malware can cause your laptop to malfunction or prevent various elements of your laptop to function, such as your touchpad.
To check for malware, run your computer’s virus scanner and complete a full scan. The software will then notify you of any found malware and attempt to fix these issues.
Improper Software Updates ¶
A feature of the Asus Zenbook UX32VD, Smartgesture may be a cause to your problem. The Asus Smartgesture 1.0.23 program may not work properly on all laptops.
Try reinstalling the driver. If possible, download the Smartgesture 1.0.24 update from their website in order to patch this issue.
Worn Touchpad ¶
Even after having many victorious battles, the mightiest warrior will eventually fall. Laptop parts are no different. After prolonged use, your touchpad will begin to show wear and may begin to develop problems or stop responding all together.
If this happens, you may need to replace the touchpad.

My laptop overheats or is making a loud buzzing noise ¶
When using my laptop, the fan will start making weird sounds or shut down completely.
Fan Obstruction ¶
An obstruction, such as dirt or dust, may be preventing ventilation.
Give the laptop a few taps on the bottom panel so that the the fan will have a chance of spinning right back up. Start with light taps and apply more force, if needed, without damaging it.
Remove the back cover and cleaning the fan with compressed air duster.
Broken Fan ¶
This model of laptop has two fans, one of them may not be functioning. Determine if it is the CPU (central processing unit) or GPU (graphic processing unit) fan that is not spinning (broken).

The webcam is not recording video ¶
I want to video chat but the camera will not turn on.
Camera Deactivated ¶
Maybe you unknowingly deactivated the camera, go to your task manager to see if this is the case. To do this:
- Press and Hold down the CTRL + ALT + DEL buttons
- Select ‘’’Task Manager’’’
- Search for ‘’’Camera” and verify that it has not been deactivated
If so, activate the camera. Now check out how good your hair looks!
Improper Camera Software ¶
The software meant to activate the camera may be faulty.

Broken Webcam ¶
If you have attempted every other method and the webcam still will not turn on, your camera might be broken and requires replacement.
