My computer won't turn on

Battery issues may be the reason that your computer doesn't start.

First try charging your computer by plugging it into the wall outlet using the power cable. If this does not fix the problem, you may have a broken power cable. To solve this problem simply purchase a new power cable. In the event that the new power cable doesn't solve the problem, then you may need to replace your battery. To replace the battery, see our replace battery guide.

My computer is turning on but I don't have a display.

If your computer sounds like it is turning on but you don't see anything on the screen then your screen may be damaged.

There are many reasons that your screen may not work, but one probable cause is that your screen is broken. To replace the screen, see our replace screen guide.

My keyboard doesn't work.

You may need to replace your keyboard.

Often times keys will break off or stop working. If this is the case for you, see our replace keyboard guide.

When I put CDs/DVDs into my CD/DVD drive the computer doesn't read them.

If you computer is failing to read CDs/DVDs you may need to replace the CD/DVD drive.

My computer is running slowly.

Adding RAM can improve the speed of your computer.

If your computer is running slowly, the first step is to run the fewest number of programs at the same time as you can. If this doesn't fix the problem you may need to add or replace your RAM. To add or replace RAM, see our add or replace RAM guide.

I don't have enough storage space on my computer, or my hard drive is broken.

replacing your hard drive can give you more disk storage space.

Because Hard Drives are mechanical devices (Unless they are solid state), they are prone to mechanical failure. If your hard drive fails you will need to replace it. If you need more disk space you may need to install a larger hard drive. To do these things, see our replace hard drive guide.

I do not see anyway for me to ask a question. my computer shuts down 3-4 times per day. I can start it up right away, and it is fine for several hours and then shuts down again. my computer is six years old. I put a new hard drive in 1 yr. ago. otherwise it is original equipment.
