Device is Overheating

If the fan is constantly running, and the computer is struggling to perform basic tasks.

Overuse

If a computer is in use for six+ hours straight, it is not uncommon for it to begin to overheat. Try stepping away for a while to let it cool. Also, try to use the laptop on a flat, hard surface - rather than your actual lap or a bed, where the vents can be suffocated.

Dusty vents/fan

To get the excess materials and dust out of your computer, you can use a compressed air duster. These excess materials will limit the computer’s ventilation if left untouched.

Broken fan

If the fan is not running properly, it quickly causes an overheating issue.

Device is Not turning On

Screen remains black when attempting to turn it on

Dead battery

If used for a long period of time without being plugged in the battery could be out of power. Try plugging in the laptop and letting charge before using it again.

Replace Battery

If the laptop still is not turning on after attempting to charge it then it might be a bad battery. You can replace it using our easy guide here.

Device is Shutting Down Unexpectedly

Frequent but irregular crashes, especially when booting Windows.

Replace hard drive

It is common that the hard drive of the laptop needs to be replaced. If you can audibly hear clicking and grinding emanating from the computer, it is most likely the hard drive.

Fix Overheating

Another cause of the laptop shutting down erratically is overheating. We made an overheating section, which can be found near the top of the page.

Device Performance Diminishes as You Use It/Blue Screen

After some time of use of device, the screen turns blue

Software issue

It could be a minor glitch in the software so the first thing you should try is to restart the device. Power the device off with the power button and turn it back on a minute later.

Hardware issue

The hard drive could be broken and needs to be replaced.

Device LCD Back Light Not Turning On

When you turn on your device the display doesn’t show and screen is relatively black

Static Issue

Turn off the computer, unplug the charger and remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds and plug back in the battery and charger. Turn the computer back on.

RAM problem

There may be a problem with your RAM. Replace the faulty memory with the guide given here.

Broken screen

replace the screen following the guide given here.

Keyboard Not Working

The keys are sticking or when you try to type something it doesn't type anything

Software issue

There maybe a temporary glitch in the software and you should turn it off, take the battery out, wait a minute then put it back in and turn it on.

Dirty keyboard

The keys may be dirty and you should try to clean off the keys with a can of compressed air as much as possible without damaging them.

Broken keyboard

Replace the keyboard following the guide given here.

DVD Drive Not Ejecting

The DVD drive tray does not open when you press the eject button

Hardware problem

If the DVD drive is not ejecting properly, it is possible the drive is not plugged into the power cable. If the drive is plugged in, then the drive could be jammed, in which case inserting a straightened paper clip through the tiny hole in the drive should free it up. If both those options don't work, you can replace the drive using our guide here.
