Insignia NS-CLLT01 Troubleshooting

The Insignia NS-CLLT01 is a digital alarm clock radio with a docking station compatible with iPone 5, 5s, 5c, 6, and 6 plus.

The clock will not power on.

Ensure that the power cord is attached to the clock as well as plugged into the wall, and that the wall outlet has power.

If the clock is not plugged in, then it should still have power from its backup batteries. If it does not, turn over the clock and replace the two AA batteries.

If the power cord is connected to both the clock and the wall, and will not cause the device to power on, then you may want to consider buying a replacement power cord.

When a device is connected to the clock using an auxiliary cord, the music cannot be heard through the speakers.

The audio source may not be set to the auxiliary (AUX IN) setting. You can adjust the source using the “source” button on the top of the clock.

If the device is set to the auxiliary setting, it is possible that the volume is set too low on either the clock or on the device you are trying to play music from. When using the auxiliary port, the volume of the clock may not be connected to the volume of the other device, so you may want to check that neither volume is too low.

If the device is set to the auxiliary setting, and volume is set at a desirable level, but music is still not playing, then you likely have either a broken auxiliary port or a faulty auxiliary cord. First, check the cord in another device. If it works properly, consider replacing or repairing the auxiliary port.

When the iPhone is placed on the dock, it will not charge.

Confirm that the iPhone you are charging is compatible with the radio (notice that the dock is designed for the iPhone 5 and up).

Check to ensure that the iPhone is securely connected to the dock. This might be an issue if, for example, the iPhone has a case that prevents it from being able to make a good connection, or if the iPhone is newer and too wide for the dock.

If you are using a compatible device, and it is firmly connected to the dock, then you may have a broken docking station. You may want to look at our iPhone Dock Replacement Guide to install a new dock.

If you are using a compatible device, and it is firmly connected to the dock, then you may have a broken docking station. You may want to look at our iPhone Dock Replacement Guide to put in a new dock.

It is also possible, if the docking station works properly and the iPhone fits well and charges correctly, that the problem is with the speakers. To replace your speakers, you may want to replace our speakers.

The clock will not play the radio.

The audio source may not be set to the FM Radio setting. You can adjust the source using the “source” button on the top of the clock.

Once you have checked that the clock source is set for the radio, ensure that the antenna is fully extended and in a cleared area.

It is also possible that the antenna itself is broken or not functioning properly, in which case you may want to consult our Radio Antenna Replacement Guide.

The alarm is not sounding when it was set to go off.

Make sure that the alarm is set to the desired AM/PM, and that you have selected the correct alarm between alarm 1 and alarm 2.

If the alarm is set properly, and you do not hear it go off, it may be the result of broken speakers. If this is the case, you may want to replace your speakers.

The screen appears to be distorted or cracked.

Confirm that the protective film has been removed from the screen, as this gives the screen a smudged and hazy look.

If the film has been removed and the screen is clean, but the display still appears to be cracked, then you may want to visit our Screen Replacement Guide.

The clock screen is dark after the on button has been pressed--it is not responding.

Ensure that the clock is on. If it is not, see part one of this guide, where we discuss problems with powering on.

If the clock is on, and the screen display is still blank, then there is likely a problem with the screen itself. In this case, you may want to repair the clock with our Screen Replacement Guide.

Nothing happens when buttons are pressed.

Ensure that you are pressing the buttons firmly enough. Keep in mind that some buttons, such as the “TIME SET” button, need to be held down for a few seconds before they do anything.

It is possible that the buttons themselves are broken or poorly connected in the inside circuitry. To fix this issue, you may want to look into our Button Replacement Guide.

The clock is making buzzing or crackling noises.

A rattling noise could simply be the result of the clock being on an uneven surface. Make sure the clock is on a flat surface.

If the noise persists, the dock connection could be poor. See the dock issues sections and the iPhone not charging or not playing music sections above for solution to this potential issue. See the radio section for assistance if static occurs when trying to play the radio.

Too high of a volume can produce crackling or static. Try turning down the volume to see if the crackling continues.

If the problem could not be traced back to one of these causes, you might want to consider replacing your speakers.
