Phone is not responding
Your Droid's display is frozen and the keys are not responding.
Power cycle your phone
Many cell phone software and OS problems can be fixed by performing a power cycle. Turn the phone off and then back on. If the phone will not turn off, remove and replace the battery, then turn the phone back on.
Perform a hard reset
Some issues cannot be solved by simply power cycling a phone. A hard reset of your Droid will remove all files and applications, and return it to factory default settings. Before performing a hard reset, back up any important files or contacts onto either your microSD card, or connect your Droid to a computer using a USB data cable and back the files up onto your computer.
To perform a hard reset, turn the phone off. If the phone won't turn off, remove and replace the battery. Open the keyboard and hold the "X" button while holding the power button. Continue holding the buttons until a yellow triangle appears on the screen. Press the camera and volume-up buttons at the same time to bring up a menu. Use the directional buttons on the keyboard to select Wipe Data/Factory reset from the menu. Select "Yes-delete all user data" to return your Droid to factory settings.
Factory Reset
A factory reset deletes all files and contacts.
You can perform a factory reset if you wish to clear the phone of files, contacts, and applications. You should back up any important files and contacts onto a microSD card or your computer before reseting your Droid. Open the menu and go to Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset>Reset phone. You will not be able to use this method to reset your phone if it is not responding. For instances where the keys and display don't respond, see the procedure above to perform a hard reset.
Cannot make a phone call
You are unable to make any calls from your Droid.
Phone is in airplane mode
If your Droid cannot find a network for about 15 minutes, it will automatically go into airplane mode, which disables all wireless functions (cell signal, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth). Hold the power button, and a menu will appear on the screen. Check to make sure your Droid is not in airplane mode. If it is, tap the airplane mode button to deactivate it.
Phone dials numbers on its own
You have an unusually frequent issue of "pocket dialing" someone.
Phone application goes to call log screen
The factory settings for the Droid's phone application tell the phone to go to the call log screen after a conversation is ended. This screen is touch sensitive, so an accidental bump or tap could easily cause the phone to redial a recently used number. This setting can be changed by downloading the free "Not Call Logs Pref" application. Using this application, you can have your phone go to the screen or menu of your choice after ending a call.
Bad third-party application
In rare cases, a third-party application may be interfering with the phone's operation. The only way to know if this is the case is to uninstall all third-party applications and run the phone for a day or two. If the problem goes away, then one-by-one start installing your applications again. If the problem returns after installing one of the applications, then that is likely the one causing the issue.
Battery error message
You get an "Invalid Battery" or "Unable to Charge" message
Battery is not seated correctly
Your Droid's battery might not be sitting correctly in the phone. Turn the phone off and remove the battery. Install the battery back into the phone and try charging it again. If the phone still doesn't charge, you may need a new battery.
Battery is not an official Motorola battery
Motorola recommends that their phones be used with their batteries and chargers. Turn the phone off and remove the battery. Look for a "Motorola Original" hologram on the battery. If there is no hologram, then your battery is not an official Motorola battery. Motorola will not cover your phone under warranty if it is damaged by a non-Motorola battery and/or charger.
