The Phone Freezes / Black Screen

My phone is frozen and won’t respond to any keys being pushed.

Low Battery

It is possible that your Nokia can become unresponsive if the battery becomes to low. Plug your phone into your laptop or wall charger and let it charge for at least 10-20 minutes before using it again.

Temporary Internal Issue

Remove the battery and leave it out for 10-15 minutes. Then insert it back and turn on your phone.

Phone Requires a Factory Reset

After trying the previous operations, if your phone is slow or still doesn't work, you can perform a factory default setting. This will result in all setting and configurations you've made on your phone to be deleted.

Screen Replacement

If the screen still doesn't work, the phone may have a faulty screen. If this is the case, replace the screen.

The Phone won't Charge

My phone screen won't turn on when I hold the power button and when I plug it in, it won't charge.

Clogged Charging Port

Make sure the charging port is free of any dirt or debris. Clean the slot of any debris by blowing into it.

Charger Not Plugged in Properly

Your charger may not be plugged in correctly. Unplug your charger, then plug it into another outlet.

Broken Charger

The charger may be broken. Verify that the above case does not fix the problem. If the charger is bent or twisted, consider replacing it. Otherwise, if the charger is in good condition, consider replacing the charger connector.

Dead/Damaged Battery

First, verify that all the previous solutions do not work. If the battery no longer charges, consider purchasing a new battery and replacing it.

See "The Phone has a Short Battery Life" to find how to extend the overall life and charge of your battery.

The Phone has a Short Battery Life

My phone’s battery life lasts shorter than expected.

Battery Life Drains Quickly

There are several ways to conserve battery life.

  • Mute/turn off sounds you do not need, such as the keypad sounds.
  • Used wired headphones instead of the loudspeaker.
  • Lower the screen brightness. You can do this by pressing Menu, select Settings, then Display Settings, and finally Display Brightness.
  • Set the phone to automatically turn the screen off a period of inactivity. Press Menu, select Settings, then Display Settings, and finally Screen/Keylock timeout.
  • Only use network connections, like Bluetooth, when you need them.

Not Fully Charged

Check to see if your phone is fully charged. If not, plug your charger into the phone. If it does not charge, refer to the “The Phone Won't Charge” troubleshooting guide.

Dead/Damaged Battery

Verify that the above cases were not the issue. If the battery dies too fast, consider purchasing a new battery and replacing it.

Left Charging for Too Long

A charged battery will lose its charge over time if left plugged in. To avoid this, simply unplug your phone when it has been fully charged.

The Phone Will Not Make Calls

When I try to make a call, I cannot reach the other line.

Network Error

Either your phone or the person's phone you're trying to call could be experiencing network issues. Try calling another number to determine whether or not the issue is a result of your phone. If you determine that the issue is on your end of the line, try moving to a different area or waiting to see if the issue resolves itself.

Connection Error

Restart your phone by removing the battery for 10-15 seconds, reinserting the battery, and turning the phone back on.

Settings Have Been Adjusted

Make sure that no settings have been changed while your phone was in your pocket. Make sure airplane mode is turned off, call barring is turned off, and automatic network selection is turned on. This will ensure that your phone is open to make and receive calls through the network area you are currently in.

Covered or Faulty Antenna

The antenna on your phone is located to the right of the rear speaker under the back cover. Make sure nothing is covering or blocking the antenna region (gloves, covers, etc). If the area is clear and the phone still doesn't work, the antenna is likely faulty. No replacement antenna's are available for public purchase, so take the phone to your place of purchase or network provider for a replacement.

The Phone Will Not Receive Calls

When others try to call my number, they say my phone is 'disconnected'.

Connection Error

There may be an unknown connection error in the phone - network system. Restart your phone to attempt to resolve the issue.

Phone is Diverting Calls

When your phone is receiving a call, if there is no answer after a set amount of time, your phone will divert the call to your voicemail. Set the divert delay in your settings to be longer, or shut it off altogether to eliminate that as an issue.

Settings Have Been Adjusted

I’m on T-Mobile and my phone only shows edge and not the 3g sign . It can send and receive phone calls but I have a lot of drop calls on it . I’m in Seattle I assume it would be good for 3g. Should I change the sim card ? Restart it ? What should I do to try and get 3g on it . It never shows ever.

When I try to send a text, my phone keeps coming up with a ‘message not sent. Try again later’ error. This is even when it is showing 5 signal bars and the H symbol. I have turned it on and off, removed and replaced the battery and have checked the operator is on automatic. It has been like this for 3 days.
