Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Troubleshooting
Structural Issues ¶
One of the pieces is broken or falls apart
Lens frame falls off ¶
If the plastic square surrounding the lens of your camera has become detached due to external forces, its waterproofing has been compromised. Before using it underwater, carefully glue the frame back into place. Be sure to use enough glue to properly seal the small gap on top of the camera (so water won't get through). Be careful not to get glue on the lens or the lens cover because it could affect the camera functions. The camera will still function properly if you choose to leave the lens frame off, but it should not be used underwater.
Power Issues ¶
You can't get the camera to turn on
Battery charging and installation ¶
This can be an issue with a battery that takes an unreasonably long time to be charged. This could be due to a faulty battery charger or that the battery is not inserted into the battery charger correctly.
Make sure the battery is inserted into the charger properly, if not the battery will not charge. Besides, you might also have a bad charger, which could be replaced.
Drained/bad battery ¶
This is an issue with a battery that has to be recharged after using it for a short period of time. The battery is unable to hold a charge. This can be caused by a battery that has been used and re-charged numerous times, therefore reducing the battery life. This wears out the battery and it becomes drained.
If your battery can no longer hold charge, you will probably need to buy a new battery. Check the Factory outlet store
Nonfunctioning motherboard ¶
If it's not the battery problem and you still cannot turn on your Olympus Stylus 1030 SW, there might be something wrong with the motherboard. Refer to Motherboard Replacement Guide to change the logic board.
Operating Issues ¶
It's not functioning the way it should (or used to)
Poor picture quality ¶
If the quality of your photos is poor (blurry, not focused, or too bright or dark), that may be due to a number of reasons. First of all, you need to check whether your camera has the right setting of brightness and contrast; then you need to make sure hold the camera firmly or put it in a flat surface when taking pictures; you may also refer to the instruction manual for more information.
LCD is not functioning ¶
If your LCD screen is not not functioning properly, you can try to reboot the system to fix the screen problem. If there is something more serious with your LCD screen (like the screen remains blank when you turn on the camera, or the screen is cracked), you may refer to Disassembly Page and LCD Replacement Repair Guide to replace it.
Flash is not functioning ¶
If your camera cant flash when it's dark, there might be a couple of reasons. First of all, you need to check your flash settings to make sure it's not forced to be off. If that's the case, you can reset your settings. Second, if the battery is low, chances are flash will not be allowed. You can simply recharge your battery.
Camera turns on, beeps 4 times, then shuts off ¶
The camera shuts off after beeping for 4 times and there is no problem with the battery. It is likely that water has gotten inside your camera and affected the parts inside. For possible solution, visit the Disassembly Page to further investigate which component may need to be replaced.
