Connect: Amp Fails to Turn On
- Check the power cord to ensure a proper connection and look to see if there are any cuts or nicks in the cord
- Make sure if the Amp is plugged into a power strip, that the strip is switched to the on position
- If the issue persists, follow the Fuse Replacement Guide in the Guides section on this device
Connect: Amp Turns on but the White LED Blinks
This issue becomes apparent when the amp attempts to connect to the nearest wifi therefore these steps will include how to assist/possibly solve this issue:
- Turn off the Amp by unplugging the amp from the wall
- Proceed to connect the amp to your wifi router via an ethernet cable
- Connect the amp to power and wait for the LED to stop blinking
- If blinking persists, contact Sonos support for further diagnosis. They may ask to open a diagnosis case to further investigate the issue.
Connect: Amp Turns on but does not appear in the Sonos App
As in the previous troubleshooting step on the white LED blinking scenario, this event appears to happen when the Amp does not connect to the wifi and therefore will not show up in the app. The following steps may be able to assist in allowing the Amp to connect to the provided WiFi network:
- Ensure the WiFi router is working properly and Sonos app permissions are enabled so that your device can read other devices on the network.
- Ensure that no status LEDs are displayed. These LEDs will give you steps to follow accordingly. Sonos has a light guide given here for most/ all of their products.
- A possible last resort effort would be to reset the device to factory settings. This can be done by the following steps:
- Disconnect the device from power and wait till the LED goes completely dark.
- Hold the Play/Pause button while plugging the unit back in.
- Continue to Hold the button until a white and amber flashing sequence appears. You may now release the button.
- Wait until the LED flashes green; once this is completed, the amp should be ready for setup at this point and you will have to reconfigure the amplifier at this point in the Sonos App.
Connect: Amp Turns on but White and Long Orange LED Blinks
In this case of the White and Amber light sequence, the appearance of a long duration of amber presents the concern that there may be a system fault. This can be due to a problem with the speakers that are connected to the amp or in the rare case, that there is an internal issue. In this step, we will delve into the easier of the two scenarios which is the external speaker condition:
- Ensure the speaker connection is proper and no loose wires are present. If loose wires are present, resecure them so that proper connections are being made.
- If this does not resolve the issue, disconnect the speakers and shut down the amplifier by disconnecting it from power. Once this is done and the LED shuts down, reconnect power and see if the issue persists. If not, then check the Ohm reading on the speakers with a digital multimeter. If the reading comes in at over 8 Ohms and under 4 Ohms, then the speaker may have some internal resistance that has put the speaker over the amplifier operation range
Connect: Amp Turns on but White and Orange LED Blinks (Same Duration for Both)
In this case, the Amp can either be updated or in the process of factory resetting. In the more and more growing cases, however, this condition is also found to be a hardware issue that has not been solved as of writing this. If you are experiencing this later condition it is recommended to contact Sonos support and set up a diagnosis. At this point, however, they may inform you that there is no repair to be done and provide you with a voucher to purchase a new amplifier. However, if this is not the case, it is highly recommended to not disconnect the power when the amplifier is updating.
