The charger doesn’t work

Materials:

• Cotton Swab or Dry Cloth
• Battery Charger

If the battery will not charge then make sure you have the correct charger and that the battery is plugged in the correct way. The charge lamp should turn on to indicate charging The charger can get dirt and debris stuck inside the battery terminal, make sure to clean the terminals with a dry cloth or cotton swab.

The battery life lasts a short time

Materials / Details:

• Access to a Camera Shop or Online Shopping Site
• The Battery’s Details (Version, Serial Number)
  • Sony Website: Rechargeable battery pack NP-FW50

If the battery works, but the battery doesn’t hold a charge for long (Example: Battery jumps from 100% to 70% after 10 minutes) then your battery is close to dying. Batteries cannot last forever, consider replacing the battery.

The battery is in, but the camera will not turn on

If the camera will not turn on it, this could be because the battery is not inserted properly. Check the battery and make sure that the “three gold connectors on the battery” are facing inward and they connect to the “golden connectors inside the camera.”

The battery or camera’s connectors are dirty

Materials:

• Dry Cloth or Cotton Pad / Q-Tip

The battery’s connectors can get messy overtime. Check your connectors to make sure they are clean. When they are dirty use a dry cloth or anything cotton to clean them. The connectors should like shiny when the battery is clean.

The camera’s battery port may also get dirty overtime as well, since the battery port is deep it is best to use a “Q-Tip” to clean the connectors.

LCD Appears Dark or Black

The LCD screen can only turn on when the camera is turned on. Make sure that the battery is working if the LCD screen will not turn on. If the device is connected to a TV or computer remove the USB / HDMI or any cables connecting to the Camera. If the camera’s screen will still not turn on try resetting it (Menu -> General -> Initialize or Reset -> Reset All Settings). Go to Sony’s Repair Website if all else fails to repair the device.

LCD Screen Displays Icons But No Images

If the screen is on but there is no images or the subject that the camera is facing is not displayed, then the camera’s lens maybe blocked. Remove the lens cover before turning on the camera or check if there are any debris got into the camera. Clean the Lens as shown in the “Camera Lens is Dirty” section. If the screen still will not display anything go to Sony’s repair website and send it for repairs.

When the LCD screen lights up looks distorted then the LCD maybe broken or damaged. It may work if you reset the camera’s settings (Menu -> General -> Initialize or Reset -> Reset All Settings). Some usb cables will prevent data transfer on the camera. Use the usb cable that is provided with your camera. The supplied cable will have “Sony Corp” written on it.

If either the USB port located on the camera or the cable itself is dirty or dusty, it’s likely that it could cause connection issues.

Materials:

• Soft, dry cloth
• Can of compressed air

Gentle wipe the ports on both ends OR use the compressed air to blow the dust or debris out of the ports.

Ensure that the connections between the camera and the computer is tight and secure.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from both the camera and the computer
2. Turn the camera off and on again
3. Reconnect the USB cable

Everytime I take a picture it’s all blurry and out-of-focus.

Tools Needed

• Clean Cloth
• Lens Cleaning Solution
• Air Blower or Soft-Bristled Brush (After-care)

Put a drop or two of the lens cleaning solution onto the camera lens. Gently wipe the lens with the cleaning cloth in a circular motion, making sure not to leave any trails. Leave to dry.

A light air blower or a soft-bristled brush is recommended to prevent future issues. These accessories will get rid of dust and fingerprint smudges.

The Sony DSC-RX10M3 has many focusing options, including a manual focus mode which causes the user to focus the lens themselves. If this mode is selected, ensure the lens is properly set.

To change to automatic focus mode, Turn the focus mod dial (A), located at front bottom left side of the camera to S (for pictures) or C (for videos).

Changing the focus area will also help. (Menu -> Camera Settings -> Focus Area -> Desired Setting)

If all the information above does not resolve the issues, the camera viewfinder is most likely broken. You may want to order a replacement from the Sony website, other websites or a camera shop.

When I take pictures, my flash does not go off.

To change flash settings (Menu -> Camera Settings -> Flash Mode -> Desired Settings)

The test if there is an issues with the flash, select the Fill-Flash Setting. The camera should flash every time a photo is taken. If not, the flash assembly may be malfunctioning.

If the setting was on Autoflash previously, remember that flash only occurs whenever the camera senses a dark environment or when shooting towards a bright light. If this is the case, there may be issues with the Camera Body/Casing, blocking the sensors.
