Sony PRS-505 Screen Is Blank When Powered On

If your Sony PRS-505 screen is not responsive when powering the device on, follow this page for possible solutions.

When the battery is plugged up and charged, the screen will cause it to illuminate. You want to verify the battery is fully charged.

• Try to power on by sliding the power switch and holding for 3-5 seconds.
•  Plug in a Sony reliable charger to a functioning outlet.
• Allow the device to charge(at least 2 hours)

Sometimes, the screen can appear to freeze during device use, but it actually just needs a device reset.

• Locate the Reset button on the back of the reader.
• Use a paper clip or a small object to press the button.
• Slide the Power switch to turn the device on

You want to be sure your device is not just in low contrast to where it is hard to see the screen.

• Locate your contrast setting, usually on the bottom corner of the screen.
• Inspect the device up close to make sure you can or cannot see the screen accurately all the way.

You may want to check for outside or external damage to the device. Look for any cracks or slashes, breaks, etc.

• Inspect the device for any cracks or visible damage, both front and back, as well as on the e-ink display. If any, a screen replacement might be needed.
