1 Connect your iPod to your PC computer with the iPod's USB cable and open iTunes. You will be prompted by iTunes to sync the devices. Select the option that that you do not wish to sync the devices. Your iPod can now be used as and external hard drive on your PC. Exit iTunes.
2 Find the iTunes directory on your PC by selecting the folder, "My Music." Open this folder and then select the folder, "iTunes." Open the iTunes folder and find the XML file and the ITL file. Copy the entire folder with all of its contents to your PC desktop. If you have a lot of songs on your iPod, this can take a long time.
4 Open iTunes. Select File from the menu bar on the top of the screen and then select the option, "Add a Folder." Now, select the folder you just copied to your desktop. Your iTunes library will now contain the contents from your iPod. After verifying the contents are in your iTunes library, delete the folder from your PC's desktop.
5 Remove the iPod from your PC and attach the iPod touch. ITunes will ask you to register and then sync the new iPod device. Allow the devices to auto-sync so that the contents of your library are transferred to your iPod Touch.
