Looks like your "new" inverter board might be faulty. Is it really a new inverter board or a used one ?  I would try to boot from another source (installation disk, external drive) to check for a software issue.  I don't know what happened when you cracked the LCD, if the unit was dropped or not but in the case of a dropped unit you can't exclude the possibility of a damaged logic board too.
