A - The logic board requires the display to function, the SMC logic needs access to it and the fans Otherwise SMC will assume there is a failure which will push the CPU into Safe Mode with a much lower clocking

B - The logic board is setup to be housed in a vertical configuration.

Over the years people have tried none that I know of who wanted to do the same as it wasn’t worth it.
