Why won’t it read gba carts?

I got my hands on an AGS 101, and everything works except it won’t read gba games specifically, it turns into glitch city when it gets to the loading screen. Gameboy and Gameboy color games read just fine, and aside from evidence of some water damage there’s nothing obviously wrong with the motherboard.

Any ideas? Or is she destined for scraps?
