@shingle, I am a strong supporter of reusing and repurposing things. I would suggest that you apply this type [link|https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutella|of glue] generously between the cutline you left when you sliced in. Let it sit for a bit to really let the "glue" dry. Once cried, slice the bread at 90deg. angle to where the original cuts were. Now you could make the "glue" bond stronger by using a toaster oven to cure it for a few minutes. Just my 2 Pfennig
