mine is XBR-49X900E - what motherboard does it need and how hard would it be for me to replace it myself? Where did you obtain it?
Purchased Nov. 2019. I don't think I will ever buy another Sony after this experience.

This television, bought in around November 2017, has since at least 2019 or 2020 had problems spontaneously rebooting. It would frequently say something about how the memory was about to be full, (maybe to do with apps).
+
+
I put up with that for a long time but in the past week it got to where it would get stuck on the Sony logo during one of its reboots, I think, but I solved that problem by doing a factory reset. It was behaving better than ever before for a few hours after the factory reset.
+
+
However I then turned the TV off for the night and the next day when I tried to turn it back on, it would not turn back on.
+
+
I started thinking about how I don't want my login apps to be accessed by somebody else if I get rid of the TV (is there a Sony recycle program?) and by any chance it starts spontaneously rebooting again,
+
+
so I wanted to erase/reset it again but now it either won't turn on at all or whenever I now attempt to factory reset it again, it is only a blank screen with a green light.
+
+
And it does not respond to any kind of push on the power button of the remote or the TV to shut the green light off and I have to unplug it. And it will not do the factory reset now or finish booting up. Blank screen.
+
+
To hear your description it seems like it needs the motherboard replaced. But that would be bad if it was not just the motherboard needed.
+
+
What does it cost to get the part new? $400? What is an example of a place one could get it? A problem is that this might not be all that's wrong I guess.
+
+
I doubt I would buy another Sony after experiencing this. I'm not sure it's worth salvaging. I was told by the Sony authorized service center a 3 hours drive from me that I'm not going to be able to factory reset it if it won't get up booted up
+
+
So I should "take a hammer to it" if I'm worried about people accessing the apps that I'm logged into and then maybe I will just go and get a new TV with more space for apps instead of one constantly complaining about filling up its memory
+
+
I don't know what kind of TV to get next but I have wanted to have a high-quality TV. The most reliable TV I've had before was a Samsung.

This Sony reminds me of Boeing, like something that I expected to be reliable but isn't.
