Why won't player turn on?

I have tried over and over again to turn my player on. I have tried charging it several times and have even tried the reset button, but it will not come on. It was working fine, then I started downloading some more music when it shut off and would not turn back on. My laptop recognizes that it is pluged up. I only have a USB cable to charge it and I have even tried three different USB ports on my laptop. What is the cause and fix for this problem?

henryr79, it does sound like a battery failure. If it has discharged to below its threshold it will no longer accept a charge or hold a charge. I would start with that. Follow this teardown to change your battery and re-evaluate. hope this helps, good luck.

What does a battery cost and where can one be bought?

Once you have it apart, there should be a number on the battery. Use that to do a search according to your location.
