Backlight issue => bad connector screen solderings?

Hello,

I get an iphone 5 which go into some water (red sticker)

All is working except the backlight which works but at a low level so to determine if it was a problem from the motherboard or the backlight itself, I put another working screen on it and.... the same thing however when I test it the screen wasn't in its compartiment so I can slightly moved the screen (and the connector is a little affect to this action too) and the backlight is directly affect; more bright or less depend on the orientation of the screen.

So I looked closely on the screen connector and it seems that the screen connector is badly solder on 4 pins (judge by yourself thanks to my pictures), can you tell me or confirm that these pins are used by the backlight ? or just send me the scematics of this chip

Thanks

Most likely problem = short on backlight coil.

Your backlight filters are not the components that are burned/corroded in your picture, but they are near--you should replace them and backlight coil.

You will certainly have corrosion under those shields--desolder and clean.

Jessa

Yes those pins are bad---and so are your backlight filters--i circled them for you. You need to get all that fixed up if you want your display to work---and given that you have obvious corrosion in the areas you can see, I would bet that you would also be highly likely to have corrosion in the areas you can't see under the EMI shields covering 90% of the board. Get them off, get everything cleaned, replace all your damaged components---otherwise you'll have a dead phone soon enough---that's just the way it seems to go.

Thanks for your reply

I think I didn't explain my problem right... when I inclinated the front panel (so included the backlight) which is not in its final emplacement like on step 5-6 of this guide

iPhone 5 Teardown

Also without the shield of the front panel connector then the backlight worked time to time it depends how I inclinated the screen that's why it can't be a problem with chips, components...

Can you confirm that these pins are bad solder ? (I have another iphone 5 board and pins are better solder than this)

Also can you tell me if these pins are used by the backlight or just send me the schematics so I can find it by myself

Thanks for all

Yes you're right but since it still works, I will replace them later ofr the moment I just want it to work normally ....

So do you have schematics or just tell me if these pins are used by the backlight ?

Thanks again for all

Yes they are and so are the filters.

Finally I just put on my brain and follow the filters tracks to the connector...

Anyway I just resolder these pins and.... voila

It works like a sharm however filters are waiting for my soldering iron

Last question: could you give me the model of each filter (coil ? capacitor ?) and also tell me relative to the picture of jessa which one is

Thanks

Those are all filters with the same values. FL24, FL25, and FL26 are 240OHM 0.2A 0.8OHM ferrite beads. They are available at places like this. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks guys.
