Why does my vacuum lack suction?

I am running my vacuum and it is not picking up anything off of the carpet or hardwood floor. It sounds as if it is running correctly and doesn't sound clogged.

Because the vacuum is running and sounding correct, the comments within the cyclone of the vacuum need to be evaluated for cracks and damage. If the cyclone is not damaged, the hose needs to be evaluated for tears.
