try pressing f6 or f7 that could enable touchpad, or download driver for touch pad, if that doesnt work go into device manager under keyboard select mice and pointing device right click select uninstall and restart computer windows will automaticly reinstall touchpad.

I had the same problem. It works with F5 on toshiba satelite C850

Have you upgraded the OS recently? It may not be able to recognize the trackpad. Or if you spilled liquid on your laptop it may have shorted it out. Or you may have accidentally disabled it:) try pressing FN-F9
