liquid spill, no power, faint ticking from capacitor(s)

i received a 2012 13" macbook pro (non retina) which had incurred some liquid damage. i've got a ton of donor books, so i replaced the dc-in board, as well as the battery meter board, but i can't get on...

when the magsafe is connected (for diagnostics, i've tried 45w, 60w, 85w) i get a very dim flashing light. the unit will not power on, nor indicate any charging.

i've attempted SMC reset, but the magsafe light doesn't indicate success, nor does the machine boot. i've tried shorting the power-on pins at the keyboard socket, which also doesn't work.

when the magsafe is connected, there are three blue/silver capacitors with the following text on each of their tops:

F37a

39

16V

and these capacitors emit a faint ticking sound. i'm fairly skilled in soldering and circuit repair, but not troubleshooting or part identification.

could anyone advise me?

EDIT: after pulling the logic board out, and placing my ear directly upon the board, they ticking may in fact be coming from the USB/firewire ports.

i have thoroughly cleaned the board with a toothbrush and 99% isopropyl. i'll i'll take some photos of the area i hear the ticking from tomorrow, and give the board number.

thanks!

Put your finger over the caps feel if it's getting really hot , you got to step up your game board repair is 2 parts troubleshooting and physical rework , just saying :)) you got donor boards so you obviously are ready to kick it in high gear , youtube would be your best bet

You need to start at troubleshooting your power rails it is not good that board is hissing or ticking noised

I have absolutely no doubt I can perform the repair, But you're right my troubleshooting skills Peter out at the component level.

I am skilled with the multimeter but wouldn't know where to begin testing let alone what to expect. I took a peak at a circuit diagram, but it was a little... Abstract

When there is ticking sound, mean there is shorted conductor(s) on the circuit board. The cap that you suggested as culprit can only be tested with ESR meter to know either they still good or not. Look around where the sound is coming from with the aid of magnifying glass to clearly see and test any available smd conductors.

Have a good luck.
