Hello. I recently got my phone water damaged and sent it away for repair. They informed me I had a fault motherboard and wasn't possible to repair.
Is this true? If so, is it possible to get another motherboard and insert it instead? And also, is it possible to insert my iPhone 5S Contract SIM card into an iPhone 5C?

Not every water damaged board can be repaired. The issue here is that it will depend on what symptoms you encounter. First off, it needs to be properly cleaned (EMI shields removed etc.) then it needs to be properly evaluated.

Hi
Its possible to have the iPhone 5s mouther board repaired and working from water damage. This is a place where they do board repairs and have a youtube channel. The place is called iPad Rehab.
You can replace the motherboard with a new one from ifixit here. There are also a repair guid for replacing the board here.
It is possible to take out your sim card and put it into another phone as long as the carrier is the same. For example if you have a Verizon phone the sim won't work with a AT&T phone but it will work with another Verizon phone. The 5s sim cad will be the same size as the 5c sim.
