4.3" widescreen LCD display with a 333 MHz Processor. Model Number PSP98510. Repair for this device requires common screwdrivers and prying tools.

Is my PSP bricked?

Hello! I got this used PSP 2001 off of Ebay. I connected it to my laptop and may have accidentally deleted some or all operating system files (Unchecked "Hide Operating System Files). The system would turn on, but I couldn't open any of the system settings... Then, it shut off and refuses to turn back on.

When turned on, the green light lights up but the screen is black. If I turn it on with the R button pressed down, the backlight of the system lights up with the blank screen.

Is my psp bricked, or is it an internal problem?

You can't mess with flash0 from USB mode.

You can with custom firmware.

Hey Em, since the green light isn't blinking, I can sort of confirm that it isn't a fully bricked device. Try this. If that doesn't work, try this.

Hey Apple! I have tried the first method but didn't work. Saw the second video, but wanted to hold that method off until my Pandora battery and MMS arrives (I just ordered one just in case). Thanks!

Seems like I did brick the PSP. I seemed to have messed with the Flash0 files by accident!

Hey wantomek! I watched the video but realized that all of the methods consisted of using the recovery mode. Not sure if I can try these methods without recovery mode. Also, I am unable to connect the psp to my laptop (USB mode) since it won't turn on at all. As of now, I can only open up the memory stick using a reader on my laptop, which I am told is different from getting to the system files itself. I don't see "kd" or "font" file when the MS is opened via the reader.

Is your PSP modded in any way? If you power it on with the battery out but the charger cable plugged in do you hear any sounds if the volume is up all the way and you press buttons?

If it’s bricked there are ways to recover depending on what motherboard revision you have. If you have an older one you just need a Pandora battery and a memory stick programmed with Despertar Del Cemeterio v9 so you can have firmware 6.60 installed. If you have a newer motherboard then you need a Baryon Sweeper battery and afaik you can use regular memory sticks but they will need to be modified with the newer ipl.bin to work with a newer motherboard.

Pandora batteries and preprogrammed memory sticks can be bought but I don’t know anyone selling Baryon Sweeper batteries and you need to have decent soldering skills just to assemble them and good computer skills to use them or program them depending on the method you choose. I’m still waiting on parts to arrive so I can make a Baryon Sweeper battery to fix my 3001 that I purchased bricked. I was Planning on making some to sell but they’re going to be around $30-$40 or so before shipping depending on the price of the parts at the time.
