Getting rid of paint: Sandpaper or Thinner?

Hi i recently rummaged through my Attic, and i found a great condition Longboard. I want to paint it so i removed the wheels and washed it. After it dried i want to get rid of the old green paint. The paint was kind of translucent, there's wood patterns on the paint.

I sanded it because it was the first thing that made sense. I use a 320 sandpaper. wasted an hour and 1 meter of sandpaper :c and i havent gotten through the paint. The paint seemed thick. I want a Clean Wood finish and paint The Great Waves off Kanagawa on it.

Do I use a rougher sandpaper or a paint thinner?

Rashy, I'd try some paint remover (not thinner)to loosen the paint. Check this video for the exact instructions. After that I'd use the sand paper.

I'll try that. But im not sure my area sells those fancy schmancy paint remover

Try some regular paint removers. May not come off as nicely as with the fancy schmancy one and may need some more elbow grease, but give it a try.

I guess paint remover or sandpaper is not an option. the paint has seeped into the wood. so removing it would mean removing a layer of the wood from the skateboard. I tried 3 rounds of paint remover an leave them each 30 min. and not a desired effect, the paint barely came off although the ones that did came off is alot. i sanded it soft and planning to spray paint white.

Definitely not sand paper as it can remove woods too. Also, rubbing sandpaper might rough the polish. So first go for paint thinner then use sand paper lightly.
