New laptop is slow/unhappy with laptop's performance
Acer aspire es1-512
New Acer Laptop with Windows 10. I've downloaded all available updates and disabled any obvious processes running which I don't need. However, I'm still disappointed with the start up time and slow load time of programs. Is there anything I can do? I’ve never used Windows 10 before, not sure if it’s a resource hog compared to Win 7 or not. I have Intel N2840 CPU and 4 gig RAM.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The Intel N2840 processor is very simply a low powered budget CPU. You will not get great performance from it. An SSD will somewhat help speed up loading . You don't say how much RAM you have but the single stick can be removed and replaced by an 8GB one.
Blocking Microsoft's telemetry software could help a little. Making sure W10 is updated also helps some. Run Windows Update. Updating drivers helps. I use IOBit's Drive Booster free version.
It is nothing to do with Acer it is the Intel processor. I have the ES1-411 which is even slower. We use it for travel as it is very thin and light weight. For heavy duty use I use an HP business laptop which is very fast and built like tank.
Windows 10 actually is faster than the other versions of Windows. It works much better with the hardware. I have W10 running very nicely on a 12 year old HP desktop with a single core AMD Athlon processor.
Good luck.
