HP All-In-One has power problem

I have a HP Pavilion All-In-One desktop, model no. MS219 running Win 10 OS.

I push the start button and the power light on the front blinks but the computer won't start. The power light on the back is on, indicating there is power to the computer. Once I hit the power on button on the front of the computer the power light blinks but then if I push the power button again the power light doesn't blink. I have to disconnect the power cord then reconnect it and the process starts all over again.

I've look online, everywhere I could think, but to no avail.

Can anyone give me any advice as to what is going on and perhaps what to do to fix it?

I had the same problem and I just spend an hour waiting for an HP person to talk to and they kept putting me on hold (UGH). Support had me unplug the power cord to the PC and while it was unplugged, held the on button for 30 seconds, in a few minutes it came back on. (and he put me on hold again, I hung up. What is up with this new model. This is the 2nd issue I have had with a new hp that is less than two months old ?????

Have you tested the power adaptor to see if the voltage output is what it should be?

bad for loosing bios settings you will have to take memory chips out with them out hit turn power button on then let it go through a sieries of beeps for a full minute hold the power button till it goes off put memory sticks back in then try turning on again hould work

May be is the GPU and you have to reflow it, if not you should to review the AC Adapter, if you can obtain a new one to check it with your computer and please let us know the result.

Hi!

[1] Test to see if your power brick (external AC adapter) is working.

If you have a green light on the back of the unit when everything is plugged in, my first assumption is that the brick is working.

[2] if you get a brief sound of fan noise, and a brief blue light in the front, this is a sign that the internal sensors for power are shutting down the machine as soon as it detects a short or some other problem in the internal PSU or mother board.

[3] If you have recently moved the unit (before the problem) I would re seat the memory and hard drive connections. (This is really a forlorn hope kind of fix. It is hoping that an easy to fix problem is the one you have, but it is almost certainly not the case.)

[4] Most likely a bad capacitor in the power supply circuits or a short circuit.

I am taking the memory and hard drive out of mine as we speak since the unit is not worth saving.

What kind of AC adapter does a All in one 20 pavillion use ? Because mine doesn't turn the power button, just the back of AC plug for adapter light is blue

I had this problem once with my HP AIO-PC 23-p110, which I think is the 2014 model. There were several posts online about soldering and some stuff about something getting worn or disconnected inside the machine, but my machine had barely been out of the box, so I didn't want to go that far.

The problem reminded me of a problem I had with my PlayStation 4 (PS4), which is somehow related to the power supply inside the machine (PSU). Without turning this into an answer to a question you didn't ask, what I ended up doing was pulling the plug from the back of the machine (not the wall), waiting a while (couple hours), and then plugging it back in. This got it to turn on. Once it was on, I did what I did on the PS4 and modified the power settings in the system. I extended the time it takes for the machine to go to sleep or turn off. This way the PSU is regularly getting power.

Both seem to be working fine now. I hope this helps.

I followed the advice Edward gave about modifying the power settings on my HP All-in-one 200 and it stayed on a bit longer before cutting off again as Edward and others have experienced. Then I followed the advice of a local repair guy who suggested I hold the power button done tightly for a time after I unplugged the power brick from the unit. Something to do with clearing an electrical charge and resetting some function. Then the device stayed on for a much longer time before cutting off again. I unplugged the power and waited a day and then it worked after I plugged it in again. Has stayed on considerable longer and is still on. (Hope I haven’t jinxed it) Does my experience help anyone in pinpointing the problem we are having?

Where is the on button? The one I located on the side never works. NEVER. my finger is sore trying to push and hold the on button, yet it never starts

This is an AIO fix for issues where there is no physical damage, yet the unit won’t power on and the power indicator flashes in a series.

Without Opening:

Unplug everything from the PC. Including the battery if applicable.
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
Release the power button and plug only the power cable back in.
If it boots, it’s all good and you can skip the rest of this.
With only the power cable plugged in, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
If the PC turns on after that great, you can skip the rest of this.

With Opening:

Again, unplug everything and follow your manual instructions on disassembly.
Disassemble until you find the BIOS or CMOS Battery. Then remove it.
If you cannot remove the battery, skip this step.
Continue to disassemble until you find your RAM. Then remove it.
If you cannot remove the RAM, skip this step.
Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Carefully reassemble in the reverse order, taking care when reinstalling the RAM and BIOS battery. Follow the manual!
After it’s reassembled, plug the power cable back in and boot.
If, after all this, it’s not coming on, you may need to contact a professional.
