The indication light has stopped turning on even when the device is on and the cooking surfaces are in use. Does this mean the heating temperatures are affected or is it just the light which is an issue and how do I address this problem?

The indication light on the cooking knob does not turn green until desired temperature is reached. If light does not turn on there is a problem with the LED light, either the light needs to be replaced or simply internally reattached. Follow link to fix LED Cuisinart Griddler GR-4N Troubleshooting

It is neither a light or a connection
It controlled by the board on the far left side. You have temp sensor in the black metal spring in the middle of the unit. That sends a signal to the board
There is a small ic that controls a relay that is at the end of the pc board
If you are able to heat up the solder connections that may resolve the issue
Good luck if not as they don't sell this important part
