Mixing different types of RAM
Is it ok if i have a 1GB RAM stick and a 2GB RAM stick in my computer?

Yes! This is completely fine however, it is good practice to have the same brand of RAM sticks if possible.

Your machine will take up to 8 GB of RAM:

It would be fine, but you can go higher. Also, use the same brand of RAMs.
One more thing to note would be to use, say, both DDR3 RAMs (the type should also be same).
