Horizontal lines across the display

Hi,

I bought an ASUS LCD Monitor last year and over the last few months it has developed a fault where faint lines are displayed across the display. The lines don't show on white backgrounds, just darker colours. There is then a black line that fades towards the middle of the LCD at the top. I have tried the monitor with different computers over HDMI, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. I have also tried to reason with ASUS but they are unable to repair monitors apparently and can only offer a refurbished unit (A repaired display?).

Thanks

The problem is the LCD display. Refurbished is a good way to go, just find out what the warranty is when replaced. Generally, the warranty of the refurbished unit is either the remainder of the original warranty or 90 days, this varies depending on vendor.

Thank You, They sent me a refurbished display which is absolutely disgusting. It came covered in dust with no protective plastic so I have requested that they return mine and I will build a good one out of the two then send back the refurb. Right now my priority is getting mine back though!

Hopefully I will be publishing some repair guides soon!

Sorry to hear that the refurbished display was low quality. In this case, you should escalate to the help desk manager. It is a pain but it may help make the experience better for the next person and it could also help you get a better replacement.

I have requested that they return my display, they escalated the case and reported the issue to the complaints department, should get my original LCD back by Tuesday. I will be requesting a full refund from them or ill try to get a PB287Q out of them.
