Why do my pictures show up black? The shutter is working
The shutter is working properly, but when I take a picture it shows up black on the screen and the SD card

There are many causes for this. First, make sure your exposure value (E/V) is set to 0 or a positive number.
The built-in meter could be off. Test this by using manual settings. Go outside on a sunny day, and set your camera to these settings: ISO 100, Shutter speed 1/500, and F-stop F8. Point the camera at something well lit (Preferably white), and shoot. If the exposure is good, then there is something wrong with the built in meter.
Another test, to check your shutter. Take the lens off, set the camera to expose for 10 seconds, and make sure the shutter opens the moment you press the shutter release button.
