Post your CPU and GPU temps.

GPU-

Before Lag: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eob5g9X...

After Lag: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15VtBYAm...

GPU-Z Shows Temperature Max : 97 degree celcius

Minimum 59 degree celcius current idle its 67 degree celcius

CPU -

Intel XTU cpu stress test - i saw two times thermal throttling come up in 5 minutes of stress test , max core frequency came down from 1.80 ghz to 0.80 ghz .cpu stress test passed. Max temp was 77 degree celcius , minimum temp was 60 degree celcius..during the whole stress test was fluctuating betwenn 72 - 75

Update : Ran a stress test on kombustor - GPU was running fine then temp went upto 81 degree celcius and fps decreased from 72 to 24 .. but throttling decreased temperature to 76 degree celcius. same with cpu went upto 80 celcius and dropped from 30 fpss to 10 fps and decrease in temperature

I would try replacing the heatsink and thermal paste. It is possible to have a leaking heatsink. While you have it apart clean the fans out real good.

Hi,

sorry for the late answer. I have the same laptop and have experienced much better cooling/heat-performance so that the laptop no longer throttles during gaming by doing the following:

  • turn off CPU-turbo by setting max performance to 99% in power options
  • under-volting CPU using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), currently set at -0.125V but depends on your CPU
  • under-volting GPU using MSI Afterburner, check thread mentioned below for profiles you can download
  • set a frame-cap of 60 fps using RivaTuner
  • head-modded bottom of laptop case underneath the fans by drilling holes and gluing on dust-filters
  • used copper-tape to remove gap between fans and heat-sinks inside laptop
  • using a notebook-cooler with fans positioned to blow air straight at the fans located inside the laptop

Turning off CPU turbo and under-volting CPU/GPU is the least work and have big impact on heat-development.

The following thread has more good information on all the steps mentioned above:
