Restoring/Resetting a school locked ChromeBook

I bought this ChromeBook off of eBay, and seeing a solved problem of just resetting the device through some a little taking apart magic and some terminal stuff that I know how to do (that I read here How can I reset a managed chrome book back to factory), and then being annoyed that this got patched in newer ChromeOS versions (that I read somewhere else online, not on iFixit), is there a modern working way to get this school enrolled/locked ChromeBook cleared for actual use?? And I know this thing is legit as that it came from a school that were getting rid of them and therefore the seller on eBay getting them and selling them, I have a charger for it, and it’s not enterprise enrolled. I’d really like to use this thing.

Have you tried contacting Orland School districts IT department? I heard it costs them money unless they depeovision it. I bought the same thing and am obviously scratching my head too.

Frankly if the seller can not provide that information, I would use the eBay Buyer Protection Program and get my money back.

If you have the name of the school I would message them and ask them to release the device. This will break the enroll in the console. Removing the program screw and a wash will not remove the enrollment status.

The name of the school is Rufus King International High school, I bought it off of Ebay also and was denied re-enrollment, I had to use my old school's username and password just to get online and I couldn't even use youtube, I bought it last year please help.

There is one way I have not fully tested but could be worth trying!

1. Put Chromebook into recovery mode (ESC+Reload+Power)

2. Follow instructions for online recovery or

3. Put Chromebook OS recovery file (8GB) onto a flash drive and insert

I haven’t managed to cop an 8GB flash drive but when I do I’ll let you know how it goes!
