iPhone X memory upgrade?

Hi, so I’m going to replace the logic board on an IC locked phone and was curious if I could put a 256gb one inside. It’s currently a 64gb

I agree with Tom. It is, technically possible, to upgrade the memory on an iPhone X. Whether or not it is cost effective really depends on where you are in the world. The actual memory chip is quite expensive and it requires that you have access to a special programmer, such as this one. Additionally, there is quite a bit of skill required (and lots of specialized tools) to do this upgrade successfully. If it goes sideways, you will kill the logic board. Replacing the logic board is easier but certainly not inexpensive either.

So if you are in Asia, then you can probably have this done affordably. If you are in the US, then the cost will be significant.

Is replacing the logic board as simple as just swapping them out? And also out of curiosity would I be able to buy a 64gb logic board then if I wanted to later on just buy a memory chip to upgrade the memory on the logic board? You guys are being very helpful I appreciate it!

And also what problems would you meet if you bought a 256gb board I’m assuming with the chip already on it and just put it into the iPhone, technically would that be the same thing as flashing the chip to match the serial number of the previous board?

You should re-read my answer. I detail that upgrading the memory is both expensive and difficult. This isn't a microSD card ;>). The logic board is the phone...if you swap boards, you essentially have a new phone.

It is possible after you reprogram several serial numbers on the flash memory chip.

So that’s the only way? The memory chip isn’t apart of the mother board?

If I’m replacing a 64gb with a 64gb it won’t require any flashing, correct?

You need to flash the chip every time, the chip is personalized to each board.

That would make sense but why aren’t any guides telling you, you need to flash the chip before putting in a new board?

If you put the entire logic board and home button then it isnt needed to program the chip. you can swap it easy no troubles.
