How to fix google pixel gps not working?

Recently I bought a used google pixel where I replaced the battery and I was happy with it. Today I went to a field where there is no WiFi and cellular. My last phone got a GPS 3D fix here in seconds and this one spent 10 minutes and didn’t connect to a single satellite. I downloaded GPS test and it shows a lot of satellites in view and zero in use. The google one on one support chat suggested a few things that I tried but it didn’t help so they recommended to return the phone for a replacement but the problem with this is 1st I’m not in the US, 2nd It’s a used phone so I don’t have anything else than the device itself. So is there any hardware or software solution I should try?

Things I tried:

Resetting to factory settings / wiping phone.

Not opening dev options.

Resetting GPS data.

Changing high accuracy location settings.

Probably by replacing the motherboard or trying to reconnect the signal cables inside the phone.

I have exactly the same problem on a new Google Pixel bought from Ebay (presumably old stock). Same result from GPS test.

It is running OS 9, and other devices running 9 (eg a friend's Samsung phone) are fine.

I wonder how many others have this without realising it because in high accuracy mode it will probably get a fix from somewhere, but not necessarily GPS, and not necessarily that accurate (that needs GPS). For instance Google maps will show location OK until high accuracy is turned off (so it then relies on GPS only), but then it won't. Battery saving is also off.

High accuracy is a bit of a misnomer anyway, because mobile towers / sensors can help the GPS fix in various ways, covering gaps etc (sensor fusion), but without working GPS in the first place there will never be an accurate fix.

I am wondering whether to upgrade to OS 10 OTA in case it is a software fault, but am wary of doing so without the supplier's say so as it is under guarantee. Anyway, it is probably a hardware fault.

So, did you find an answer, because I haven't?

It is most likely a hardware fault and the best way to fix it is to replace the motherboard, since the GPS chip is probably located there. However, I've never tested that because at that point it makes more sense to buy a second gen pixel.
