Force Touch Not Working

I have just replaced the battery and the force touch on my Gen1 sport watch. I followed all the instructions carefully. The watch needed charging when complete. After a few hours i checked and the screen seems un responsive. The display shows info like pair with phone etc but the touch isn’t working. Any ideas?

I have done a hard reboot several times but to no avail. I opened up the watch again and replaced the force touch with the original one i took out. Before putting all back together I turned on to test. I was able to turn off using the screen. I then put screen on and now the touch screen isn't working again!!!!???
