What is wrong with this screen?

So I got a Pixel 2 XL with a dead screen and got a new one to replace it. But upon installing the new one, there was a vertical purple line going vertically across it.

After using it for a while, white spots and lines start to develop.

I know this screen is probably borked but is there any chance of fixing it? There is no damage to the panel as far as i can see and i have already cleaned both ends of the connector with isopropyl alcohol and replugged it multiple times. What exactly is wrong with it?
