How reattach lamp pole to base?
As shown in photo, apparently this aluminum lamp pole was glued or lightly welded to its metal base. Tried epoxy, no luck. Can’t weld. Suggestions for reattaching it?

The photo is not in focus so it is hard to see the details of the protruding bit from the base. Normally that is a threaded part on floor lamps.
I don’t think epoxy would hold for very long. If you have tools you could try as below. You might have to look around for pieces. Similar components are use in furniture construction.
What I would do in this situation is to tightly fit a 10cm long piece of wooden dowel with an inside threaded metal insert. You could also machine and thread a piece of metal. Remember to leave enough room for the power cable!
In the base you want a hollow (for the power cable) outside threaded (matching thread insert above) metal bar. Hold this securely in place with thin nuts and washers.
Then just screw the base and lamp standard together being careful not to twist the power cable.
There you are better than new!

What kind of epoxy did you use? And did you try sanding the surfaces you want to epoxy before applying the epoxy?

Not sure what kind of epoxy - what *should* I use for aluminum? I think I did clean the surface.

If you can ream the hole out bigger so the pole slides into it, the epoxy may hold better. My favorite glue is Gorilla Glue. It seems to glue almost anything together.
