Water proofing after repair

Dumb question on my part. I have noted in the tear down that the watch seems to be using a “rubber gasket” rather than a glue. Is it possible that water resistance will not be impacted if we open the watch to repair it?

As long as the rubber gasket is undamaged the watch should remain its water resistance.
