Had a P0024 code and replaced VVT solenoid, check engine still on

I have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe SE AWD (V6 3.5L) and the check engine light (P0024 camshaft on bank 2) came one, the car won’t accelerate when it’s in drive (when in park or in reverse the car accelerates/revs up just fine). I got my Engine VVT solenoid replaced and the car ran well. The next morning I go to start my car up and the same issue came up with the car not wanting to accelerate. I’m wondering what other issue could be the cause of this if not a bad solenoid. Any help/input on what to do next?

Michelle Nganga when did you have the last oil and filter change on your SUV? Original filter or aftermarket filter? Some of the aftermarket filter leave a bad (low) flow rate which can trigger this. Your engine is one of those that really craves OEM filters. I assume that by VVT you are referring to the variable valve timing solenoid. Other cause for this P0024 are:

  • Engine oil is dirty
  • Engine oil is too low
  • Engine oil is incorrect viscosity
  • Camshaft variable timing solenoid failure (Eliminated)
  • Camshaft phaser is seized in the advanced position
  • Continuous oil flow to Variable Camshaft Timing chamber

Those are the things I would check for at this time

@oldturkey03 my next oil change is set at 2k miles from now. I had my oil filter replaced in my second to last oil change.. I will move forward with these other suggestions you wrote to check them out. Thank you!
