The red light (to show it's charging) no longer comes on when I plug in to charge.
I've tried a replacement N Type Battery, but that didn't power up either...
Does anyone have any ideas what to try next? How tricky are they to take apart - and what are my realistic chances of fixing it anyway....?

@timmotchell if nothing else, there is always hope. Your camera has a couple of fuses, one of those is a power fuse and a charging fuse. I suggest you carefully disassemble your camera (something like this video or these guides Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX30 should help) and check the main board etc. Post some good pictures of what those boards with your QUESTION. that way we can see what you see. 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기
